Oxford Capital Partners launches its fourth Venture Capital Fund – the Oxford Gateway Fund No.4

Oxford, UK, 24th November 2006

Oxford Capital Partners, the science and technology focused venture capital firm based in Oxford, has announced the launch of its fourth venture capital fund, the Oxford Gateway Fund No.4 which will enable investors to participate in the profits of technological progress.

The Oxford Gateway Fund No.4 is structured as an Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) fund, a format which was pioneered by Oxford Capital Partners as early as 1999, and which is structured so as to allow investors to benefit from significant CGT, income tax and inheritance tax advantages. The fund represents an opportunity for individuals, trusts and family offices to participate in technological progress and incorporate a potentially high return component into their investment portfolios.

Oxford Capital Partners, Venture Capital House of the Year in 2005, specialises in identifying, investing in and supporting science-based businesses with high growth potential, both in the UK and internationally. The Oxford Gateway Fund No.1, which was launched in 1999, has performed strongly and is in the top decile of funds of its vintage, according to statistics compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the British Venture Capital Association. Together, the Oxford Gateway Funds Nos.1, 2 & 3 have made more than 30 investments in healthcare, environmental technologies, enterprise software and communications. Several of these companies have since listed or been acquired.

The fourth fund has a target size of £20m. The investment strategy will focus mainly on unquoted science-based businesses in the central and southern UK region. Oxford Capital Partners believes that this region is one of Europe’s most powerful regions of innovation and the firm has the network, market intelligence and proximity to be able to capture and support outstanding investment opportunities.

Edward Mott, CEO of Oxford Capital Partners remarks, “This fourth fund will be another significant source of capital for high growth companies. Our philosophy is to provide more than just capital. We back outstanding management teams and support them in their growth. These are some of the keys to great investing.”

The UK is proving to be a competitive and resilient international base for technological entrepreneurship. David Mott, Investment Director, comments “The UK is better than it used to be at taking applied science through to international commercialisation. We aim to support this ambition and to add to the success and prosperity of the UK economy. That is what enhances the investment returns for all stakeholders.”
