Outplay shortlisted for Growth Champion Award

We are delighted to announce that Outplay Entertainment has been shortlisted for the Growth Champion of the Year at the 2016 Growth Investor Awards.

Outplay, which joined the Oxford Capital portfolio in 2014, develops mobile phone games. Its games are free to download, generating revenues from in-game purchases and advertising. Outplay focuses on creating high-quality, highly-engaging titles across a number of the most popular gaming segments. Titles include ‘Bubble Blaze’, ‘Monster Legacy’ and ‘Angry Birds Pop!’ , developed in collaboration with Rovio.

Intelligent Partnership, organisers of the awards, will be profiling the 15 shortlisted companies over the next few weeks. Eight finalists will be selected, and the winner will be determined by a judging panel in combination with a public vote. The award will be presented on 3 November.

The awards programme is guided by an Advisory Board including angel investor and entrepreneur Sherry Coutu CBE, Co-founder of the Scale Up Institute; Luke Johnson, Chairman of Risk Capital Partners; Claire Cockerton, Founder and Ambassador of Innovate Finance; Tim Hames, Director General of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA); Emma Jones MBE, CEO of Enterprise Nation; Simon Devonshire OBE, Entrepreneur in Residence at BIS; and Michael Hayman MBE, Co-founder of Seven Hills.

Commenting on the new Growth Champion of the Year award, which recognises businesses that have made the best use of their funding, Simon Devonshire OBE said: “Britain has more engaged investors and a more active eco-system than anywhere else in Europe and Growth Champions bring this story to life. It’s important to show how growth capital is being used to scale and transform the country’s economic landscape.”

The Awards are organised by Intelligent Partnership (IP), the UK’s leading provider of research and education in alternative investments, and supported by partners including the BVCA, EISA, UKCFA, Centre for Entrepreneurs, The Entrepreneur Network and The Supper Club.

Guy Tolhurst, Managing Director of Intelligent Partnership, which organises the Growth Investor Awards, commented: “The finalists of our new Growth Champion of the Year award are among the UK’s best performing scale up SMEs – and their story of growth capital at work really brings the Growth Investor Awards campaign to life.”
